![]() Therapeutic professionals provide staff with training, assist with program development, monitor student progress, and assist with data collection. As students approach age 22, we work closely with families, school districts and assigned adult agencies to plan for and provide as seamless as a transition into adulthood as possible.Īll therapeutic services are delivered in a collaborative, consultative approach working closely with all members of the school team. Amego has partnerships with organizations in our community that welcome our students as volunteers and employees when they are ready. As students approach ages 18-22, they are placed in either campus-based or community-based job-like activities that aim to increase functional job skills and, of equal importance, target important soft skills such as appropriate socialization in the workplace and natural support development. With this knowledge, students will start developing job skills in their classroom and across the school building that both capitalize on their strengths as well as systematically boost their confidence and ability in their areas of weakness. Amego’s Vocational and Transition Specialist will work closely with students and their teachers to identify relative strengths and weaknesses in the area of functional life skills and pre-vocational skills using the Amego Pre-vocational and Employability Skills Inventory. Administrators, teachers and other staff are always available to discuss current goals and encourage generalization of skills across school and home environments.Īs students reach age 14, their team will begin to develop programming that will best prepare them for their post-secondary vision. Amego encourages open communication with families and caregivers and welcomes parents to come throughout the year to discuss progress. Team meetings with parental participation are held annually, and parents receive updated progress reports throughout the year. ![]() The school provides highly structured direct instruction based on the principals and techniques of ABA across academic and functional life skills. Teachers with the support of Educational Directors and input from other professionals determine each student’s precise instructional needs, ensuring optimal opportunities for progress. The school uses a variety of assessments to help identify and determine the educational needs of each student throughout the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process. School staff work collaboratively, with input from parents and other professionals, to ensure that each student has an individually tailored education plan to address their most significant needs.
